Heart racing, she sat down in the chair next to him. They began a normal conversation about how their days had went, but at some moments, she couldnt bring herself to look directly at him. She was afraid of the thoughtful way he looked into her eyes, lightly asking what color they were supposed to be. She was afraid of the mutual attraction between them. She was afraid of what he could become to her if they allowed it. She was afraid of the fear that she could not hide from him. Her cheeks flushed as the conversation became flirting, and before she knew it, she was laughing and talking like any normal girl would. Although still nervous, she sat there waiting with him, occasionally glancing at the clock. Would they run out of things to talk about?
She brushed her long tangled blonde hair from her face and walked with him as they left outside. Feeling the day's stresses lift with the cool breeze that swept over them, she enjoyed the sound of his steady voice talking about his future endeavors. She nodded and laughed along with his jokes, gripping the sleeves of her jacket like a nervous middle school girl.
Out in the parking lot in front of the school, she went searching for her car. Of course it was right next to his. They laughed as they met each other again. Waving goodbye, he flashed a teasing smile at her. She wondered where this was going.
